Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, supports Bali to host the World Tourism Network (WTN) or ‘WTN Think Tank and Summit-TIME2023’.

The World Tourism Network which will take place at the Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort and Spa from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 2023 is a collaboration between the World Tourism Network (WTN) Global and the Bali Tourism Board (BTB), the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy said in a written statement as quoted by Indonesia Window on Friday.

Minister Sandiaga when attending the ‘Pre-Launch of WTN Summit-TIME2023’ at Harris Riverview Kuta, in Indonesia’s resort island of Bali, Thursday (Feb. 23) said, this event would strengthen the country’s target as a location for holding world class MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions)

“We believe this will be part of the recovery of foreign tourist arrivals and Bali’s ability to continue to be a magnet for tourists, especially for carrying out MICE events,” said Sandiaga who is also Head of the Indonesian Tourism and Creative Economy Agency.

Indonesia, especially Bali, as a world-class MICE destination has been proven through various activities, including the World Tourism Day, G20 summit, the ASEAN Tourism Forum, and there will be various other events this year.

These activities are expected to support quality and sustainable tourism with a target of creating 4.4 million jobs in 2024, Sandiaga said.

Summit-TIME2023 is a combination of five think tanks and discussions on medical, green and clean tourism, Small Cultural Areas of the World, as well as inbound and outbound travel opportunities to and from Indonesia.

Summit-TIME 2023 will also host giant FAM trips for travel agents from key travel markets. WTN has more than 1,200 members from 129 countries.

The chairperson of WTN Indonesia, Muddi Astuti, said the ‘re-Launch of WTN Summit-TIME2023’ carries the theme of the development of world tourism and the importance of partnerships with small and medium tour operators as an initial milestone for collaborating with independent network members from 129 countries around the world, which offers inbound tourism to Indonesia.

“It has been our commitment to focus on global cooperation and to use this meeting as a platform for learning and sharing information about everything new, including medical tourism and MSMEs,” Muddi explained.

During his working visit to Bali, the minister also had the opportunity to attend a digital marketing workshop under the theme ‘Market Bali Creative Economy Products, Open 4.4 Million New Jobs’ at the Wistara Family Cafe.

Sandiaga hopes that through this workshop, creative economy actors in Bali will have skills that will continue to be honed to support business opportunities and employment opportunities.
