Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto has offered defense system products made by the country’s defense industry to his Philippine counterpart Minister Delfin Negrillo Lorenzana.
One of the products offered to the Philippines is a medium tank produced by Indonesia’s defense industry PT Pindad, according to a statement from the Indonesian Defense Ministry’s website as quoted by Indonesia Window here on Sunday.
On the sidelines of the ASEAN Defense Minister (ADMM) retreat meeting and the Sixth 2019 ADMM Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, on Saturday (16/11), Philippine Defense Minister Delfin Negrillo expressed his country’s interest in buying Indonesian defense equipment.
On the occasion, the Philippine Defense Minister expressed his appreciation and satisfaction for the Strategic Sealift Vessel (SSV) products made by the national shipyard industry PT PAL Indonesia in Surabaya, East Java.
At the bilateral meeting, the two countries’ defense ministers also discussed defense cooperation activities between the two parties, including those on the exchange of intelligence information, joint pratol, and enhancing the capabilities of military personnel.
Defense Minister Prabowo expressed his support for collaborative efforts in overcoming common threats in the region through sea and air patrols, joint exercises or other forms of operations.
Meanwhile, the Philippine defense minister hoped that the two countries can promote information exchange cooperation related to issues on radicalism and terrorist movements that affect security.
