Indonesia, Hungary hold joint economic commission meeting

Joint Economic Commission between Indonesia and Hungary was attended by representatives from 20 relevant ministries/institutions to evaluate all achievements and plans for bilateral cooperation in various fields.

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Director General of America and Europe at Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Umar Hadi, and Deputy State Secretary for External Economic Relations at Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Katalin Bihari, have co-chaired the 6th session of the Joint Economic Commission in Jakarta recently.

“Indonesia offers various opportunities for cooperation in the development and management of Special Economic Zones and National Strategic Projects, as well as the utilization of Indonesia’s young digital talents,” Umar Hadi said in a statement published by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

The commission meeting is also intended to encourage more Hungarian young people to take advantage of the cultural arts scholarship program offered by the Indonesian government, Umar added.

The highest forum for bilateral meeting between the governments was attended by representatives from 20 relevant ministries/institutions to evaluate all achievements and plans for bilateral cooperation in various fields.

These fields include investment and trade, infrastructure development, technology and the digital economy, aquaculture, education and vocation, as well as people-to-people contact.

Meanwhile, Katalin Bihari said that Indonesia is an important partner for Hungary in cooperation on infrastructure development with high technology, digital technology and cyber security, as well as vocational trainings.

As part of the session which took place on Oct. 4, 2022, businesspersons as well as technology and digital economy players from the two countries met again at the Indonesia-Hungary Business Forum ‘HunIndoTech 3.0’, on Oct. 5, 2022, and was attended by around 100 business people from both countries.

HunIndoTech 3.0 is a collaboration between the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN RI) and the Hungarian Embassy in Jakarta, with full support from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This business forum was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Hungarian technology company ACPM and the Association of Private Universities (APTISI) and the private IT college Amikom Yogyakarta, Indonesia, in the field of education related to cybersecurity studies.

The standing committee of KADIN RI and Hungary underlined the latter’s advantages in today’s key technology sector, which include artificial intelligence, robotics, internet of things and blockchain.

In addition, there is a potential to use Indonesia’s talents in cybersecurity cooperation.

Several forms of bilateral digital technology partnerships include the development of advanced mobile payment platforms, technology and global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) in the MLFF (Multi Lane Free Flow) e-toll payment project, which is a non-stop toll payment process.
