Human trafficking becomes Friday sermon’s main theme in Saudi

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Dr. Abdullateef Bin Abdulaziz Al-Asheikh on Monday (Sep 30) directed imams in all mosques in Saudi Arabia to call that human trafficking is a sinful and prohibited act in religion.

Thus, the minister called on the imams to make human trafficking  the main theme of the next Friday sermons, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

He added that human trafficking appears in several forms including forced labor and delaying payment of workers’ rights.

Al-Asheikh urged imams to highlight the issue from sharia perspective by instilling Islamic values and principles, as well as citing fatwa (a ruling on a point of Islamic law given by a recognized authority) issued by the Council of Senior Ulemas in Saudi Arabia.

The minister’s directives for the imams and mosque preachers is the ministry’s efforts to spread awareness about sharia in order to enlighten people about religious and worldly matters.
