Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia received 10,000,280 doses of COVID-19 vaccine in bulk from Chinese Sinovac on Monday (July 12) via Soekarno Hatta International Airport in Tangerang district, Banten province.
The arrival of the vaccine produced by Sinovac is the 21st stage.
“Today, we are again receiving 10,000,280 doses of Sinovac vaccine in bulk. The arrival of the vaccine increases the number of Sinovac vaccine in bulk to 115,500,280 doses in total,” Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said in a virtual press statement welcoming the arrival of the vaccine on Monday.
The vaccine in the form of raw materials will be processed into ready-to-use vaccines by the national vaccine manufacturer, Bio Farma. “In the next month, we will have 93 million doses of ready-to-use Sinovac vaccines,” the minister pointed out.
Accelerating the national vaccination program, said Budi, is one of the government’s efforts to tackle the surge in COVID-19 cases in the country.
“The implementation of health protocols and tightening the Emergency and Micro Community Activity Restrictions policies are incomplete if vaccinations do not go well,” he said.
On Monday, Indonesia recorded 40,427 daily cases of coronavirus infections, bringing the total cases to 2,567,630. Meanwhile, 891 people died, making the total deaths to 67,355.
