Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – This year’s commemoration of the 650th birthday of Azerbaijani poet and thinker, Imadaddin Nasimi (1369 – 1417), will be different from those in the past as First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva has invited all the people in the country to plant 650,000 trees in a day.
According to head of press-service of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Irada Ibrahimova, the tree planting will be a new world record, Azertac news agency reported as quoted by Indonesia Window here, Tuesday.
“Thanks to this kind and noble initiative, everyone will have the opportunity to plant a tree, and there will be a remarkable increase in greening and forestry,” Ibrahimova said.
According to her, all regions of Azerbaijan are seriously preparing for the event by growing the planted-trees-to-be in the nursery gardens of the Azerbaijan Greenery and Landscape System and Forestry Center.
A total of 650,000 trees are expected to be ready for planting in one day by the end of November 2019.
“We call everyone to join this magnificent initiative to plant trees and take care of the planted trees. Every tree planted is a healthy future and healthy environment,” the head of the ministry’s press-service said.
The initiative of Azerbaijan’s First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva as a project called “Let’s plant 650,000 trees” aims to promote the legacy of Imadaddin Nasimi all over the world.
Public figures, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps, executive authorities, non-governmental organizations and young volunteers will join the initiative.
Planting 650,000 trees in the country in one day will help reduce 2,600 cubic meters of CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions each year. This will also make a significant contribution to the climate change mitigation and environmental protection.
