Flight permit for UAE to pass Saudi’s airspace not change kingdom’s stance on Palestine

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal Bin Farhan confirmed on Wednesday (Sep 2) that the decision to allow flights to and from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) using Saudi Arabia’s airspace would not change the kingdom’s stance in the Palestinian cause.

“The kingdom’s firm and determined stance on the struggle of Palestine and the Palestinian people will not change by allowing the kingdom’s airspace for flights coming to the United Arab Emirates and departing from there to all countries,” Prince Farhan said in a tweet, according to the Saudi Gazette report.

“The Kingdom appreciates all efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative,” the Saudi foreign minister added.

Earlier, an official source at the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) stated that the authority had issued approval on the request received from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in the UAE, with regard to allowing flights from all countries to cross its skies to reach the nation.

“The GCAA’s request included its desire to allow the kingdom’s airspace for the passage of flights coming to and departing from the United Arab Emirates to all countries,” the GACA said.
