Indonesia wants to enhance agricultural cooperation with U.S.’ Indiana

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Indonesian government is committed to further enhancing cooperation with U.S’ Indiana, Indonesian Consul General in Chicago Meri Binsar Simorangkir remarked at a business meeting Greensburg city, Indiana on Monday (Aug 24).

The business meeting aimed to promote potential cooperation in trade, investment and tourism, according to a statement from the Indonesian Consulate General in Chicago received by Indonesia Window here on Friday.

“The cooperation includes breeding superior soybean seeds, increasing soybean export, and providing technical cooperation in the form of an apprenticeship program for Indonesian youths to learn agricultural technology, harvest management and how to produce quality soy-based products,” the Consul General said.

The business meeting was attended by the Mayor of Greensburg, Joshua Marsh, business players from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the association of soybean entrepreneurs, and the association of exporters based in the Midwest region of the United States.

Indiana is one of the major centers of agricultural production in the U.S.

One of Indiana’s leading products is premium quality soybeans, which is supported by superior seeds and advanced agricultural technology.

Therefore, Indiana is considered potential to become Indonesia’s partner in technology transfer for soybean production, technical cooperation, as well as sharing experiences and best practices.
