14 more Indonesians have been evacuated from Lebanon

14 Indonesians were successfully evacuated from conflict-ridden Lebanon on October 9, 2024, and they arrived safely in their homeland on October 10.

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Indonesian government successfully evacuated 14 Indonesians on October 9, 2024 from conflict-ridden Lebanon, and they arrived safely in their homeland on October 10.

The effort was the sixth batch of a series of evacuations of Indonesian citizens in Lebanon, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a written statement as quoted by Indonesia Window on Saturday.

Folloswing their arrival, the 14 Indonesians were returned to their respective hometowns with supports from relevant ministries, institutions or agencies.

They were returned by air with a flight route from Beirut (capital of Lebanon) to Jakarta (capital of Indonesia) with transit points in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) and Dubai (the United Arab Emirates).

Of the fourteen Indonesian citizens, 10 are men and four are women, who come from several provinces in Indonesia, including Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and Bali.

The Indonesian government had earlier evacuated 65 Indonesian citizens and one foreigner in five evacuation batches on August 10, 2024, August 18, 2024, August 28, 2024, October 2, 2024, and October 3, 2024.

Thus, the total number of citizens who were successfully evacuated from Lebanon by the Indonesian government is 79 Indonesians and one foreigner.

Currently, the number of Indonesian citizens still in Lebanon is 85 people. A total of 17 Indonesians who work as migrant workers and diaspora who are married to foreigners have previously returned independently, either at company or personal expense.

Previously, the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut set the status of Alert I for the entire territory of Lebanon since August 4, 2024. Intensive coordination to determine contingency plans, including evacuation routes, has been carried out by involving all relevant Indonesian representatives, including the Indonesian embassies in Amman (Jordan), Beirut (Lebanon), Damascus (Syria), Cairo (Egypt), and Rome (Italy).

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to urge its citizens to remain vigilant, avoid vulnerable locations or crowds, minimize unnecessary movements, and follow contingency directions from the relevant Indonesian representatives.

Indonesians who have plans to visit vulnerable areas, including Iran, Israel, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and Yemen, are advised to postpone their travels until the situation is safe.
