Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Agus Maftuh Abegebriel called on Indonesian citizens to comply with all regulations established by the local government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Kingdom state.

The following is the call made on Wednesday (Mar 25).

My brothers, Indonesian citizens, Indonesian expatriates in Saudi Arabia.

As we all know that at this time all nations in the world, including Indonesia and Saudi Arabia are facing the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Many of our brothers and sisters have contracted this virus, and even a few of them have died.

As a representative of Indonesian citizens in Saudi Arabia, I call on all Indonesian citizens in Saudi Arabia to:

  1. Comply with the rules and the call of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  2. Always maintain personal hygiene, avoid crowded places, do not engage in activities that involve many people and do not make trips if you can still cancel them.
  3. As a form of our effort to combat this global COVID-19 outbreak, I call on all Indonesian citizens in Saudi Arabia to remain in their homes and reduce activities out of the house.

“On behalf of the Indonesian government, I express my highest appreciation to Hadimul Haramain As-Syarifain, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman and all levels of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the policies that have been made in handling COVID-19, including to all patients positive for the COVID-19, and among them are  Indonesian citizens,” he said.

“I also emphasize that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has given important signs in this life. The message was narrated by Imam Malik in Al Muwatta ‘that:

In principle, we must not endanger ourselves and must not endanger others.

The Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh and the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah are always ready to assist all Indonesian expatriates in Saudi Arabia in dealing with the current situation.
