Khartoum, Sudan (Xinhua/Indonesia Window) – The Communist Party of China (CPC) has guided the country along a development path tailored to its national conditions, providing "an important reference for developing countries seeking independent development paths," said Ali Yousif Ahmed, former Sudanese foreign minister.
China, under CPC's leadership, has achieved rapid economic growth and long-term social stability, Yousif told Xinhua recently in a written interview.
"Seeking truth from facts is the fundamental ideological basis of the Party(CPC)'s governance experience," he said, adding that China does not replicate foreign models, but instead grounds its policies in national realities, testing reforms on a pilot basis before broader implementation.
China's modernization has not only reshaped the country but also provided new development options for developing countries, including Arab and African states, said Yousif, who also serves as the Executive Director of the Association of Arab-Chinese Friendship Societies' League.
On the CPC's sustained vitality and public support, Yousif said the key lies in its people-centered development philosophy.
"Lifting nearly 100 million rural residents out of extreme poverty and establishing the world's largest social security system are two landmark achievements in the history of human development," he said.
He applauded the CPC's self-governance, including efforts to strengthen discipline, improve work style, and combat corruption, noting that these measures have enhanced governance capacity and cadre performance.
"This mature system of Party governance deserves to be studied by political parties seeking to strengthen their internal institutions," he said.
During his tenure as Sudan's ambassador to China in the 1990s, a pivotal phase in China's reform and opening-up process, Yousif said he had been particularly impressed not only by China's rapid urban transformation, but also by its capacity to formulate and consistently implement long-term development plans, citing Shenzhen in southern China and Pudong in eastern China as key examples.
"The Chinese leadership gave top priority to economic development as a strategic national task and demonstrated a clear, long-term vision," he said, adding that the country's transformation over recent decades is "unprecedented in modern history."
Cooperation through the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative has expanded significantly, delivering tangible results in infrastructure and energy projects, as well as tariff exemptions for African goods, with Sudan among the beneficiaries, he said.
China has become a global leader in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, creating broader opportunities for cooperation with Arab and African countries in technological innovation and sustainable development, he said.
He cited achievements such as high-speed rail networks, new energy vehicles, mobile payment systems, the BeiDou satellite navigation system, and space programs, noting that these reflect the CPC's consistent development policies, its ability to adapt to changing circumstances, and its commitment to boosting economic growth and improving people's livelihoods.
The CPC's experience serves as an inspiration for countries seeking development, he added.
