Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Arafat sermon on the 9th of Dhulhijjah this year will be broadcast in 10 languages, namely, English, Malay, Urdu, Persian, French, Chinese, Turkish, Russian, Hausa and Bengali.

"Additionally, the translated texts of the Arafat sermon will be  made available to viewers in English and French on Saudi Arabia TV Channel One (KSA1), AlQuran AlKareem Channel (Makkah LIVE TV) and the Prophetic Sunnah Channel (Madinah LIVE TV)," President General For the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, Sheikh Abdul Rahman As-sudais, stated on the Saudi Arabian News Agency’s Twitter account on Wednesday.

According to Sheikh As-Sudais, the maximum number of viewers and subscribers has been increased from two millions last year to 50-100 millions this year.

From the additional languages that will be added this year is the Chinese language, which will allow the message of the Arafat sermon to reach a large section of Muslims and non-Muslims around the world, Sheikh As-Sudais said.

"We hope the number of languages ​​and viewers will continue to increase in the coming years," he added.

In the previous hajj season, the Arafat sermon was translated into five languages.

The Arafat sermon translation project was the largest of its kind in the world, and this year is the third time since the project was first implemented in the 1439 Hijri/2018 hajj.

The Arafat sermon is delivered when the hajj pilgrims are performing wuquf (silence while praying) in Arafat, about 20 kilometers east of Makkah.

Wuquf in Arafat is the culmination of the hajj performance when worshipers offer prayers and wishes from sunrise to sunset, before they leave for Muzdalifah and spend the night, and continuing their journey to throwing stones in Mina.
