Vision 2030 lifts Saudi optimism

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The 2030 Vision of Saudi Arabia that determines the country’s goals to diversify the national economy and reduce dependence on oil has turned out to influence the people’s attitudes and views on the future.

The first Global Optimism Survey by YouGov found that 61 percent of the Saudi public identified themselves as optimistic – five percent higher than the global average – and had a bright outlook about their own future of 68 percent, the Saudi Gazette reported.


The survey, which was launched at the Dubai Expo 2020 on Tuesday (9/24) also showed that the Saudis are the most optimistic people in the world, and think positively that their future aspirations can be fulfilled.

The survey was conducted on more than 20,000 people in 23 countries based on geography, gender, occupation, marital status and income to track individual, national and global priorities for the future on sustainability, economic development, technology, travel and climate change.

In the Gulf area, the survey involved 4,000 participants from five countries, namely Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait and Jordan.


The Saudi Arabian public also stressed the importance of tolerance and respect as a factor for creating a better world for the future, followed by conservation of natural resources and the use of alternative energy.

Further findings show that the average Saudi persons (79 percent) are the most hopeful in the world (72 percent) about the future of clean and renewable energy and human ability to deal with climate change.

The Saudi Arabian public also have a positive view of the kingdom towards a sustainable future (67 percent), higher than the global average (60 percent).
