Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – With the increasing need of health masks following the outbreak of a new coronavirus worldwide, the Taiwanese Government on January 31, 2020, decided to invest around 200 million NT dollars (around US$6.6 million) to add 60 mask production lines in a short time.

A statement from the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) received in Jakarta on Thursday said that the investment was welcomed by Taiwan’s large machinery and technology producers who voluntarily provided human and material resources for free. The government and community have formed a national mask team to build additional mask production lines.

The effort to build 60 mask production lines was estimated to take six months, but with the investment it was completed in less than a month.

This allows Taiwan’s health mask production to increase by 10 million pieces per day in early March.

In addition, the Taiwanese Government has also invested an additional 30 new production lines. The investment is expected to be completed in stages by the end of March.
