A South Korean media company has stated that Indonesia is an important investment destination for its country which would continue to encourage a good networking between businesses of the two countries.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – A leader of a South Korean media company, Maekyung Media Group, Chang Dae Whan, has emphasized his commitment to convey to people in his country that Indonesia is an important investment destination.
The leader of the South Korean media company made the remarks while opening the ‘Maekyung Indonesia Forum 2023 on 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations between Indonesia and Korea’ on May 16, 2023 at the Mulia Hotel in Jakarta, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a written statement quoted by Indonesia Window on Thursday.
Chang Dae Whan explained that his party would also continue to encourage a good networking between businesses of South Korea and Indonesia.
The Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, who was present as a keynote speaker at the event, said that Indonesia has prepared an investment environment that is full of certainty to make sustainable investment from South Korea run well.
Luhut also provided data showing that the implementation of Indonesia’s downstream policies has been contributing to the national economy.
The growing number of Indonesian people in the middle class category has become a strong modality for the country as a destination for investment from abroad, especially South Korea.
Indonesia’s Ambassador to South Korea, Gandi Sulistiyanto, was also present at the forum which was organized in collaboration between Maekyung Media Group, the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry/KADIN, and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency/KOTRA.
Ambassador Gandi Sulistiyanto was present as the guest of honor at the forum which was attended by more than 200 participants consisting of Indonesian and South Korean government officials and businesspeople.
Indonesia’s Minister of Investment Bahlil Lahadalia, who was the speaker in the first discussion session of the ‘Korea-Indonesia Future Partnership’, reiterated the Indonesian government’s commitment to accelerate the completion of various ongoing foreign investment projects to encourage the national industrialization.
The Presidential Chief of Staff, Moeldoko, who was present at the second discussion session on Cooperation in the Agri-Food Sector, invited South Korea to collaborate with Indonesia in increasing open market access for agricultural and food products from the two countries.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of South Korea, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Unification of the South Korean Parliament, and Deputy Minister of Investment and Trade of South Korea attended the forum under the theme ‘Stronger Partnership for the Epicentrum for Growth’.
Previously on May 15 2023, facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, the South Korean delegation led by the South Korean Minister of Agriculture, made a courtesy visit to the Indonesian president.
The delegation consisted of government officials, members of parliament and leaders of a number of South Korean conglomerates. The meeting was related to the success in increasing the confidence of South Korean conglomerate companies such as LG Energy Solution and Samsung Electronics to continue investing and expanding their businesses in Indonesia.
