Schools in Pontianak closed due to smog
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Several schools and offices in Pontianak, West Kalimantan were closed because the smog covering the city was getting thicker, Indonesia Window observed on Monday.
Hotspots that are commonly found in some areas in Kalimantan (Borneo) have caused health problems, especially acute respiratory infections in West Kalimantan’s capital of Pontianak.
Data shows that Pontianak is included in 10 regions where the air quality is poor, reports the Beritagar, citing AirVisual.
Apart from the dismissal of schools and offices due to the haze situation, there were no flights to and from Pontianak including flights from Supadio Airport on Monday.
Not only in cities in Kalimantan and Sumatra, haze from Indonesia has also penetrated neighboring countries including Malaysia and Singapore.
