Iran’s defense doctrine is now based not on war, but rather on an active defense strategy, and “we will not let any country target us and we will face all enemies.”

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The counter operation launched by the Iranian military against Israel on April 13, in response to Israel’s attack on the Iranian embassy facilities in Damascus on April 1, “is only part of the capacity and strong will of the Islamic Republic’s armed forces.”

This was emphasized by the Military Attaché of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Jakarta, Colonel Mohammad Reza Movahhed, in his remarks at the country’s 2024 Armed Forces Day celebration, here, Monday (Apr 29).

“Looking at the wars of the last two centuries at the world level, we see that Iran has never started any war, even though it has been repeatedly attacked by several countries,” he said, stressing that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have chosen the ‘Defense Doctrine’ to protect its borders and its territory.

With self-confidence in domestic experts, he continued, the Armed Forces have produced and self-sufficiently provided defense equipment and weapons.

“Despite cruel sanctions from some colonialist countries, today the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are among the top powers in the region and the world and are able to achieve the most modern military equipment and weapons,” he said.

Col. Movahhed emphasized that Iran’s current defense doctrine is not based on war, but rather an active defense strategy, and “we will not let any country target us and we will face all enemies.”

According to him, military developments, especially those related to strategic equipment, are a priority in the plans of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

However, regarding the production, storage and use of weapons of mass destruction, it has no place in the defense doctrine of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and this is in accordance with the orders of the Leader and Supreme Commander (Imam Khamenei), Col. Movahhed said.

“We strongly believe in brotherhood, friendship and fair relations and cooperation with countries in the world, especially with neighboring and Muslim countries,” he concluded.

In a recent report, Global Firepower, a website specializing in military rankings, ranked Iran 14th out of 145 countries based on more than 60 indices.

A detailed analysis of Iran’s military power reveals the country’s dominance in man power, land power, naval power, natural resources, financial resources, and logistics.

Iran has developed an influential military industry in recent decades, possessing a wide range of missiles, drones and precision-guided defense systems, all of which are produced domestically.
