Indonesia’s participation at Expo Osaka serves as an opportunity to strengthen its national branding by emphasizing its commitment to sustainable development.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s participation at Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, has successfully secured investment commitments worth 23.8 billion US dllars (USD), with a target realization date of 2026.
The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, visited the Indonesian Pavilion on Saturday, September 20, 2025, to express his support for this strategic achievement.
“The total investment project as of today is 23.8 billion USD. This is certainly significant enough to help Indonesia become a developed nation with these various investments,” said Rachmat Pambudy, Indonesia’s Minister of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (locally known as Bappenas), at the exhibition.
In addition to investment, Indonesia’s participation also serves as an opportunity to strengthen its national branding by emphasizing its commitment to sustainable development.
Vivi Yulaswati, Deputy for Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation at Bappenas and Commissioner General of the Indonesian Pavilion, explained that the pavilion features a large ship concept representing a maritime nation and the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045, which is a grand vision of the country’s development up to the year of 2045)
“So, the Indonesian Pavilion represents a large ship, which we certainly recognize as a maritime nation. So, not only the ship itself, but also the cultural life, culinary arts, and natural life are closely related to the sea,” Vivi explained.
The Indonesian Pavilion also managed to attract the attention of important world figures, from princes and prime ministers to ministers.
The pavilion also wins supports from Indonesian figures including ministries and institutions, but also from local governments, businesspeople, and the public.
“The majority of visitors are of course from Japan; they are very enthusiastic. We also receive many visitors from other countries,” Vivi said.
On a separate occasion, a visitor from Japan, Miwako, expressed her positive impressions after visiting the Indonesian Pavilion twice.
Miwako expressed her admiration for the realistic decorations, the stunning projection mapping show, and the friendliness of the staff, which made her visit even more memorable.
“From social media, the Indonesian Pavilion was very lively. It looked really fun, with dancing and singing. I was really interested. When I entered, I felt very cool. I felt happy, very excited. There were also lots of animals on display, and the forest was very realistic,” Miwako noted.
The expo also served as a platform to expand cooperation in the tourism and trade sectors. The enthusiasm of visitors from Japan and other countries is expected to continue into visits to Indonesia.
