The national investment realization in 2020 exceeded the target set at 817.2 trillion rupiahs (about 58.2 billion U.S. dollars), or reached 101.1 percent.
“This is an extraordinary achievement in the midst of the pandemic. In fact, investment in the industrial sector is able to grow in double digits,” Indonesia’s Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said in a written statement here on Tuesday (Jan. 26).
He pointed out that the realization of investment in the industrial sector grew 26 percent compared to 2019 of 216 trillion rupiahs (some 15.3 billion U.S. dollars) to 272.9 trillion rupiahs (about 19.4 billion U.S. dollars) in 2020.
“We appreciate industry players for their commitment to realizing investment in Indonesia,” Agus said.
The confidence of national industry players to continue expanding was reflected in the achievement of the domestic investment value in the manufacturing sector in 2020 amounting to 82.8 trillion rupiahs (some 5.8 billion dollars) or growing by 14 percent compared to 72.7 trillion rupiahs (some 5.17 billion dollars) in 2019.
The local industry investment contributed up to 20 percent of the total domestic investment value of 413.5 trillion rupiahs (some 29.4 billion dollars) in 2020, the minister said.
