Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises Minister Erick Thohir plans to build a facility called Rumah Indonesia (literally means Indonesia House) in the Holy Land of Makkah to serve the country’s hajj and umrah pilgrims.
The minister made the statement in an online speech at the Global Islamic Investment Forum 2022 here on Friday (March 25).
The SOE Minister added that Indonesia’s PP (Pembangunan Perumahan) company would be the lead developer for the Indonesia House project in Makkah.
Erick hoped that the National Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) would participate in the Rumah Indonesia funding scheme, collaborating with state bank BNI to finance the construction of the project.
With over 231 Muslim population, Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest hajj and umrah pilgrims in the world.
