Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – About two hundred of the six hundred employees of the LG Electronics factory of the production section in Cibitung, Indonesia’s West Java province are infected by COVID-19 after undergoing tests on Monday (Aug 24), Yonhap News Agency reported.
A statement from LG Electronics mentioned that the factory is temporarily closed since August 22.
LG Electronics in Cibitung manufactures television screens which are also part of the television production line in Gumi, South Korea.
No Korean employees have been infected, the statement said.
LG Electronics announced that it has implemented a quarantine for all areas of the Cibitung factory and carried out tests for all employees.
LG Electronics plans to create a working mechanism that only allows those who have received a negative test to work, starting next week by strengthening a strict social distancing.
Korean citizens in Indonesia expressed their concern over the possible spread of COVID-19 to Koreans following the mass infection at the LG Electronics production factory.
Until now, five Korean citizens have tested positive for COVID-19.
Two of them are employees of Hyundai Engineering in East Kalimantan, while the other three are family members who live in Manado, North Sulawesi and have been recovered.
