Prophet Ayyub عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ had been a wealthy man.

He was a very good man but he lost his family and his wealth.

He suffered for eighteen years from his affliction and was shunned by relatives and strangers alike.

He had terrible sores all over his body. However, he never gave up.

He spent his time praying.

He was very patient and always kept his faith in Allah ﷻ.

However, one day he was very ill, making him no longer strong and thus he prayed for Allah ﷻ as mentioned in the Quran, Surah Al-Anbiya, verse 83 which is translated:

“And [mention] Ayub, when he called to his Lord, “Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful’.”

Then, Allah ﷻ answered in the next verse as translated:

“So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allah].”

Whenever he went out to answer the call of nature, and when he finished, his wife would take his hand until he came back home.

One day he took a long time, making his wife thought that he had taken too long, and thus she turned to look at him.

When she saw him, she said, “May Allah bless you! Have you seen Allah’s Prophet, the one who is sorely tested by Allah ﷻ. I have never seen a man who looks more like him than you, if he were healthy.”

Ayub عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ said, “I am he”, continuing with his story about what Allah ﷻ had ordered him to do and the miracle he experienced after that.

Eventually Allah ﷻ showed mercy.

Allah ﷻ told Ayyub عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ to strike the earth with his foot and miraculously a fountain appeared.

He drank the water and used it to wash his body.

All his sores were suddenly healed, and everything was returned to him as before.

Not only did Allah ﷻ cured the disease of his patient servant, He ﷻ also bestowed wealth on Prophet Ayyub عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ in the form of two clouds that covered his two threshing floors. One floor was used for wheat, while the other is for barley.

When one of the clouds reached the threshing floor, it rained gold and the room was filled with the precious metals.

Likewise, the threshing floor of the barley would be full of gold if one other cloud covered the room.

Allah ﷻ had bestowed health, wealth and happiness to Prophet Ayub عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ for maintaining his faith, even though he suffered for years without wealth and relatives who used to surround him.
