Indonesian solidarity agency LAZSip gives free health checkup to people in West Java

Free health check-up has been provided by Indonesian solidarity agency LAZSip to people in Indonesia’s Bogor district, West Java province.

 

Bogor, West Java (Indonesia Window) – Being concerned about health problem, Indonesian solidarity agency LAZSip provided free health check-up to people in the country’s Bogor district, West Java province, in addition to collection and distribution of zakat.

Some 200 residents of Pasar Selasa village, Ciampea sub district, Bogor district, West Java province, were coming in droves to an Islamic foundation in the village for a free health checkup organized by a zakat collection and distribution agency named Lembaga Amil Zakat Solidaritas Insan Peduli (LAZSip) on Sunday, November 30, 2025.

The social outreach activity was held at the Ciampea Al-Quran Memorization Center complex, in collaboration with a health team that provides health services to people in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (all in Java), locally known as Tim Kesehatan Jabodetabek.

“This activity is aimed at local residents who are underprivileged or who still have difficulty accessing health facilities such as hospitals or clinics,” LAZSip’s head Syaikh Muhammad Irfandi, Lc., on the sidelines of the social program.

Syaikh Irfandi pointed out that LAZSip has held similar activities in several different locations and times. “We have been committed to holding this activity together with Tim Kesehatan Jabodetabek, “and we hope it will continue, but at different times and locations,” he added.

According to him, LAZSip’s health outreach program received a positive response from officials in the district. “The people were also very enthusiastic,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Tim Kesehatan Jabodetabek’s coordinator Dr. Santoso, explained that this outreach program involved 15 medical personnel (doctors) and seven other health workers.

“Our team of doctors consists of general practitioners, internal medicine specialists, dentists, and oral surgeons. The other health workers include nurses and pharmacists,” he noted.

The free health check-up program with LAZ SIP, he said, is an annual program that has been held for the past two years.

“Once a month for a year, except during Ramadan (Muslim fasting month), the team schedules free health check-ups for the people. Together with LAZ sip, the schedule is every November,” Dr. Santoso explained, adding that the number of residents participating in the health check-ups is usually limited to 200 people.

In addition to the health check-up services, participants also receive free medicines.

According to him, around 60 health workers have joined the Tim Kesehatan Jabodetabek voluntarily. The doctors on the team are general practitioners as well as several specialists, including those handling hearing, nasal, esophageal diseases and eye problems.

“The health workers include nurses, midwives, and pharmacists. So if we all go, it’s like bringing a hospital complete with medical equipment. We also have ultrasonografi equipment, and for eye check-up, we also distribute free glasses,” Dr. Santoso said.

He called on people to do a clean and healthy lifestyle in an effort to maintain health and prevent diseases.

“If we are healthy, our daily activities are expected to be more productive,” he said.
