Indonesia’s new president announces ‘Red and White’ cabinet lineup

Indonesia’s new president, Prabowo Subianto, has announced the names of 48 ministers, five ministerial-level officials, and 56 vice ministers who will serve in his government alongside Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka for the 2024–2029 term.

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s new president, Prabowo Subianto, has announced the names of 48 ministers, five ministerial-level officials, and 56 vice ministers who will serve in his government alongside Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka for the 2024–2029 term.

At the beginning of the announcement, held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Sunday (Oct. 20) evening, President Prabowo Subianto said that the name of the cabinet is the ‘Merah Putih Cabinet’ (Red and White Cabinet), according to the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat in its written statement as quoted by Indonesia Window here on Monday.

“By the agreement with the coalition (of political party) leaders, we have decided to name this cabinet the Red and White Cabinet. And I would like to announce the composition of the Red and White Cabinet for the 2024–2029 term,” Indonesia’s new president noted.

The list of ministers in the Red and White cabinet is as follows:

  1. Budi Gunawan, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs;
  2. Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Coordinating Minister for Legal, Human Rights, Immigration, and Penitentiary Affairs;
  3. Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs;
  4. Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs;
  5. Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development;
  6. Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, Coordinating Minister for People’s Empowerment;
  7. Zulkifli Hasan, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs;
  8. Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of State Secretary;

In addition, Indonesia’s new president announced five key officials that are not under the coordinating ministries, namely:

  1. Sanitiar Burhanuddin, Attorney General;
  2. Muhammad Herindra, Chief of the State Intelligence Agency;
  3. AM Putranto, Chief of Presidential Staff;
  4. Hasan Nasbi, Chief of the Presidential Communication Office;
  5. Teddy Indra Wijaya, Cabinet Secretary.

Furthermore, Indonesia’s new president also mentioned the names of the vice ministers for the Red and White Cabinet (2024–2029), namely:

  1. Lodewijk F. Paulus – Vice Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs;

The official inauguration of the Merah Putih Cabinet took place on Monday morning (Oct. 21), at the State Palace, Jakarta, followed by the swearing-in of vice ministers later in the afternoon.
