Bogor, W Java (Indonesia Window) – A tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 rocked Garut district, West Java province, on Saturday, at 4:49 p.m. local time.

Data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was at latitude -7.51 and longitude 107.52 at a depth of 118 kilometers, 52 kilometers southwest of Garut.

A number of people in West Java province’s city of Bogor and Indonesia’s capital Jakarta said they felt quite strong shocks from the earthquake.

There have been no further reports from the authorities regarding the impact and potential for a tsunami that might occur following the tectonic earthquake.
