Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The development of the Saudi Arabia’s homeborn city, Diriyah which is located about 11 kilometres northwest of Riyadh has begun, marked by the ground breaking ceremony on Wednesday.
Chief Executive Officer of Diriyah Gate Development Authority Jerry Inzerillo stressed the importance of project which will make the historic city an international tourist destination focusing on cultural heritage because of its archaeological landmarks.
He explained that the first phase of the project consisted of 86 major sites. Diriyah will also be connected to a number of new museums, the Saudi Press Agency reported as quoted by Indonesia Window here on Wednesday.
Inzerillo added that the construction which carried out under the direction of the Guardians of the Two Holy Mosque King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman will contribute in making Diriyah the largest cultural heritage site in the world.
According to him, the Diriyah Gate Project creates 55 thousand jobs with 15 percent of the workers are from Diriyah.
“There are three types of investments in Diriyah, and there is a lot of foreign investment because of the kingdom’s leading role in the world,” Inzerillo said.
