COVID-19 – Indonesia has distributed 129.8 mln doses of vaccines

Bogor, W Java (Indonesia Window) – From January 2021 to August 2021, Indonesia’s state-owned pharmaceutical company Bio Farma has distributed 129,891,072 doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

The COVID-19 vaccines which come from several manufacturers were obtained directly through bilateral cooperation between Bio Farma and its counterparts, as well as through a dose share mechanism between Indonesia and other countries.

The COVID-19 vaccines that have been distributed consisted of 90,368,340 doses of Bio Farma’s COVID-19 vaccine; 16,518,784 doses of AstraZeneca (through the Covax scheme, direct purchases, and donations); 3 million doses of CoronaVac 1; 7,563,318 doses of Moderna; 9,990,344 doses of Coronavac 2; and 499,886 doses of Sinopharm (through a donation).

Bio Farma’s corporate secretary Bambang Heriyanto said in a press release on Wednesday (Sep. 1) that Bio Farma continued to coordinate with the Ministry of Health to distribute vaccines according to the prioritized provinces/cities that have been set.

Bio Farma also pays attention to the numbers of available vaccines and stock, that have received a lot release from the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM).

“During August 2021, Bio Farma has distributed approximately 42,860,100 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. On September 1, 2021, Bio Farma distributed 3,064,640 doses to 32 provinces in Indonesia,” he said.

Bambang noted that, in September 2021, 18 million doses of vaccines are ready to be sent to all provinces in Indonesia.

In the same month, there will be an additional supply of 23,280,000 doses of Bio Farma’s COVID-19 vaccine production, and additional 25 million doses of ready-to-use CoronoVac vaccine.

In addition, vaccines from the Covax/Gavi multilateral scheme, bilateral and other bilateral donations were also expected to come to the country throughout September 2021.
