Eight-percent economic growth target is believed to be achieved by Indonesia during the term of office of the country’s President Prabowo Subianto.

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto expressed his confidence that Indonesia is capable of achieving eight-percent economic growth target.

The president made the remarks when giving directives at the National Conference of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jakarta, Thursday, January 16, 2025, the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat reported in a written statement as quoted by Indonesia Window on Friday.

\"I have only perhaps entered my third month leading the government of the Republic of Indonesia and the more I study the state of our economy, the more confident I feel. I feel optimistic. I believe. I am sure that we will achieve or perhaps exceed eight percent growth,\" President Prabowo said.

In order to achieve eight-percent the economic growth target, the President reminded that economic management must be carried out efficiently and based on logic and accurate calculations, while emphasizing that inefficient practices must be stopped.

\"It is impossible for an organization to survive if expenditure is greater than income. Therefore, I am determined to lead an efficient government,\" he said.

In his speech, the head of state also highlighted the importance of the role of the private sector in national development, especially in the infrastructure sector.

He emphasized that he did not stop infrastructure projects but rather handed over some projects to the private sector to make them more efficient.

\"Some say I stopped infrastructure projects. That's not true. I didn't stop them. I changed the infrastructure, most of it I will hand over to the private sector to build,\" the President remarked.

In addition to infrastructure, he also said that the food and renewable energy self-sufficiency programs become his government’s top priority with optimism that they can be achieved faster than the target.

\"Our target is getting clearer. We plan to achieve food self-sufficiency in four years, and even we would be surprised as the target would have been achieved faster than four years,\" President Prabowo hoped.

\"The same is true with the program on energy self-sufficiency. Not many countries in the world that will have green energy, while we have intact and substantial renewable energy sources,\" the Head of State pointed out.
