Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Wednesday (Sep 9) said the Palestinian state should have East Jerusalem as its capital and that the kingdom ‘supports all efforts aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution’ to the conflict.

The minister made the comments at an Arab League meeting, and stated that the kingdom stands with the Palestinian people.

Earlier, on August 13, Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced the normalization of their relationship by establishing a new relationship.

U.S. President Donald Trump brokered the deal, which includes an agreement of Prime Minister Netanyahu that Israel would suspend its plan to annex the West Bank.

The deal made the UAE the third Arab country to have normal diplomatic relations with Israel along with Egypt and Jordan.

In the 1967 Six Day War, Israel seized the remaining Palestinian territories in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, Syria's Golan Heights and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula.

At the end of the war in June, Israel expelled 300,000 Palestinians from their homes, including 130,000 who had previously fled in 1948.
