Indonesia’s capital city is expected to use electric vehicles and green energy. Buildings in the new capital city are all directed towards green buildings and accessibility is also prioritized for pedestrians and cyclists.

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The investment value for the construction of Indonesia’s capital city has reached 56.2 trillion rupiahs (1 US dollar = 15.963,15 rupiahs), President Joko Widodo said at a plenary cabinet meeting in the new capital which is located in Penajam Paser Utara district, East Kalimantan province, Monday.

The president added that there have been 55 investors who have carried out groundbreaking, including six investors in the education sector, three in the health sector, 10 in the retail and logistics sector, the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat said in a written statement on Monday.

The head of state further explained that there are eight investors in the hotel sector, 14 in the offices and banking sector, nine in the housing and green areas sector, three in the media and technology sector.

\" A green economy, a digital economy, a data center and a financial center among other sectors will also be developed in Indonesia’s capital city,” he said.

The president pointed out that the background to move the capital city to the new one (the Nusantara capital city/locally known as its acronym IKN) is not only a physical move, but a change in mindset, work patterns, and mobility.
