Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Saudi government decided that Eid Al-Adha will be celebrated on July 20 2021, after the crescent of Dhul Hijjah was not sighted on Friday evening (July 9), Arab News reported.

Dul Hijjah, which this year begins on July 11, is the month during which the hajj pilgrimage takes place and is the last month of the Islamic calendar (Hijri).

Hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam, will start on Dhul Hijjah 7 (July 17) and end on Dhul Hijjah 11 (July 21). Meanwhile, the day of Arafat will fall on Dhul Hijjah 9 (July 19).

The Saudi authorities has inspected pilgrims’ tents at Arafat, as well as facilities in Mina and other areas where pilgrims will stay in Muzdalifah.

The Kingdom announced online registration for pilgrims, which began on June 13, had closed, with 60,000 people from within the country qualifying after meeting the requirements.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic is hitting the globe, at least 2.5 million Muslims around the world performed the hajj, which had begun since the time of Prophet Ibrahim 'alaihissalam.
