Lawmaker calls for expanding task force to achieve TB-free Indonesia by 2030

The Tuberculosis Task Force is expected to be expanded in an effort to stamp out tuberculosis in all provincial regions in Indonesia besides enhancing relevant regulations as part of the national strategy to eradicate infectious diseases in the country.
Jakarta, (Indonesia Window) – The Deputy Chairman of the Committee III of the Indonesian Regional Council, Dailami Firdaus, emphasizes the importance of strengthening regulations and expanding the role of the Tuberculosis Task Force in all regions as part of the national strategy to eradicate the infectious disease.
The Committee III covers the management of natural resources and other economic resources, as well as various related sectors such as agriculture, transportation, maritime affairs and energy.
In his remark made available for Indonesia Window here on Saturday (June 21), he also proposed that the government provide special hospitals for Tuberculosis (TB) and other infectious diseases in every region to support Indonesia’s target of being TB-free by 2030.
“TB disease remains one of Indonesia’s major public health challenges. To achieve the national target of a TB-free Indonesia by 2030, we need to strengthen regulations related to TB control and expand the role of the TB Task Force, similar to what we did with the COVID-19 Task Force,” Firdaus stated.
The legislator added that a strong and coordinated TB Task Force would be instrumental in early detection, treatment, and prevention of the disease’s spread.
Furthermore, the provision of special hospitals for TB and other infectious diseases in every region is considered very important for more focused and optimal handling, Dailami Firdaus noted.
“The government must ensure that every region has adequate and integrated health facilities for TB control. By doing so, we can accelerate the achievement of the TB elimination target and improve the quality of life for the people,” Dailami Firdaus pointed out.
He called on all relevant parties to work together synergistically to strengthen the national health system and ensure the achievement of the TB-free target by 2030.
