Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The history of the establishment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had started from Diriyah which is located about 11 kilometers northwest of the Saudi capital city of Riyadh.
With ancient buildings made of clay bricks that are still maintained today, Diriyah is a cultural icon of Saudi Arabia that saves the kingdom’s past in the midst of an urban environment that continues to move forward.
The preservation of Diriyah as a cultural treasure of Saudi Arabia has begun since the Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) laid the first stone of the development project of the Diriyah Gate on Wednesday, according to the Saudi Gazette as quoted here Wednesday.
The development project aims to restore the historic city of Mysyah as a cultural heritage, and return it to its home country which will become a local and international tourist destination which is in line with Vision 2030.
The Diriyah Gate project will begin in early 2020, and will be one of the largest projects in the kingdom’s planning at a cost of more than 64 billion Saudi riyals (17 billion US dollars).
Diriyah is expected to attract traditional urban communities and more than 100,000 tourists, guests, settlers and students.
Around 25 to 30 million visitors are estimated to visit the Diriyah Gate each year to enjoy world-class cultural, educational and recreational facilities, including museums and galleries that will offer interactive and fun experiences.
