President Prabowo meets President Putin in Beijing

President Prabowo Subianto’s meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Beijing on September 3, 2025, is one of the important agendas of the Indonesian President in order to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two countries.

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – President Prabowo Subianto’s meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin took place during the former’s visit to Beijing for the 80th Anniversary of China’s Victory in the War of Resistance on September 3, 2025.

The meeting focused on strengthening strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Russia.

In a written statement, Indonesia’s Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya announced that, alongside attending a parade with 26 world leaders, President Prabowo also took the opportunity to meet with President Putin.

During the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation across various sectors, with a particular focus on the economy and investment.

In addition to attending the event, President Prabowo also held an exclusive meeting with his China’s counterpart Xi Jinping to discuss and advance ongoing economic investment partnerships between Indonesia and China, Teddy said.

In conjunction with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Indonesian president reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with China, which he believes would bring bilateral relations to a closer level in several areas.

During the meeting, Prabowo and  Xi also discussed the giant sea wall project planned to stretch along the north coast of Java.

On that occasion, the head of state also expressed his appreciation for President Xi’s invitation to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin and the celebrations in Beijing.

However, Prabowo apologized for his absence in the SCO Summit.

The bilateral meeting in Beijing also reflected the shared views of both countries on maintaining regional stability and strengthening international cooperation.

The meeting concluded President Prabowo’s working visit to China and strengthened the foundation of a friendship that has existed for more than seven decades.

Teddy also added that President Prabowo Subianto’s meeting with the leaders of Russia and China in Beijing was very brief.
