Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Nine ASEAN countries took part in the competition of the Quran Memorization or Musabaqah Hifzil Quran (MHQ) held by Darujannah Islamic Boarding School in Jakarta.
MHQ 2019 is the 5th at the national level and the 2nd at the ASEAN level, according to a statement received here on Saturday.
MHQ 2019 was attended by participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and Brunei Darussalam, as well as two non-ASEAN countries namely Sri Lanka and Timor Leste.
Darunnajah Islamic Boarding School Leader and Chairperson of the event organizing committee KH. Sofwan Manaf said that MHQ was a place to exchange knowledge and methods to memorize the Quran.
The competition is a collaboration of Darunnajah Islamic Boarding School, a non-profit organization Qatar Charity Indonesia, and the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia
The competition categories consist of memorizing one chapter (chapter 30), five chapters, 10 chapters, 15 chapters, 20 chapters, 25 chapters and 30 chapters.
The Quran memorization of the participants was judged by a jury consisting of 28 people from Indonesian institutions of the Quran and the University of Qatar.
