Indonesia’s LSPR Institute opens representative office in South Korea

International networks and strategic cooperation on education have continued to be the concern of Indonesia’s LSPR Institute of Communication and Business (LSPR Institute).

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s LSPR Institute of Communication and Business (LSPR Institute) continues to expand international networks and strategic cooperation on education and concern abroad.

In the effort to expand international networks, LSPR Institute is collaborating with Kyungwoon University, as a form of commitment to providing quality education in the fields of communication and business for Indonesian citizens abroad (diaspora).

The collaboration took place in Gumi, South Korea, Thursday (April 24) which was stated in a memorandum of agreement (MoA) between LSPR Institute and Kyungwoon University.

The inauguration of the LSPR Institute’s Representative Office aims to be a promotional activity for the Distance Learning Program (PJJ) for Indonesian citizens working in South Korea, especially those who earn a living at multinational companies in Gumi, South Korea.

The scope of the cooperation includes vocational training for Indonesia and South Korea, research collaboration, implementation of scientific meetings, development of competencies and skills, and exchange programs. The cooperation is valid for the next three years.

President of Kyungwoon University, Keun Park, expressed his views on the cooperation.

“Although our countries are culturally different, our two institutions have many similarities. By mutually developing each other’s strengths in this cross-cultural context, I hope we can create a new culture of education and provide an optimal learning environment in accordance with the global era which can ultimately make a meaningful contribution to international education,” Keun Park said.

Meanwhile, the Chargé d’Affaires Ad Interim of the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, Zelda Wulan Kartika, welcomed the cooperation between the LSPR Institute and Kyungwoon University.

“The Indonesian Embassy in Seoul supports collaborative efforts to facilitate access to higher education, especially for Indonesian citizens living and working in the Republic of Korea, as well as improving their skills for a brighter future for the young generation of Indonesia,” Zelda Wulan Kartika said.

This cooperation also reflects the commitment and concrete collaboration of the two institutions in bridging the need for quality education for the Indonesian diaspora in the Republic of Korea in the current digital era, Zelda Wulan Kartika added.

Dr. (H.C) Prita Kemal Gani said that the collaboration with Kyungwoon University is a strategic step for the LSPR Institute to expand its international networks while providing access to quality education to Indonesian citizens in South Korea.

The presence of the representative office is expected to bring LSPR Institute closer to those who need distance learning programs, as well as strengthen collaboration between institutions in creating broader educational opportunities for future generations.

“This initiative not only strengthens the position of the LSPR Institute as a global campus. We want to realize the essence of equal access to education for all,” the Indonesian communication educator said.

This is in line with the views of Prof. Brian Yuliarto, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of Indonesia, at the launch of the Indonesian Smart Card program for regional colleges on April 21, 2025.

Prita Kemal Gani emphasized that investment in higher education is a strategic investment to form an adaptive and contributive generation in the era of globalization.

Those who witnessed the event were Kemal Effendi Gani – Board of Trustees of the Pesona Pribadi Sejahtera Foundation, Ghina Amani Kemal Gani – Executive Director of the LSPR Institute and Namira Dewi Trustyanda – External Relations Communication Reputation Department.

Kyungwoon University officials who attended the event included, Vice President, Dean of the Office of Planning and Coordination – Ms. Shin Hee Junc, Dean of the Office of General Affairs – Mr. Do Jae Hyun, Dean of the Office of Academic Affairs and Research – Mr. Eun Soo Kim, Dean of the Office of University Innovation – Ms. Ji Hyun Lee, Dean of the Office of Global Affairs – Ms. Joy Ju Young Chun.

Following the event, the visiting group of LSPR Institute made a tour of Kyungwoon University campus, including a visit to the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, to closely observe some of the aircraft used for teaching purposes.

After the campus tour, LSPR Institute representatives were invited to visit GERI (Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute), a leading research center in which various advanced technologies are developed and tested for the South Korean market.
