Opinion – Like the Indonsian first Predident, Prof. Henry Indraguna calls Prabowo as ‘Little Sukarno’ who spoke about peace and justice that were shaking the world

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s speech at the United Nations (UN) in New York on September 23, 2025, was able to shake the souls of hundreds of world leaders who were present at the UN General Assembly and watched by millions of people around the world.
Prof. Dr. Henry Indraguna, Expert Advisor to the Research and Development Agency of the Golkar Political Party’s Central Executive Board, stated that Prabowo’s 19-minute speech, broadcast live on the UN YouTube channel, emphasizing that the leader of this developing country, who now leads Indonesia’s 286 million people, is full of heroism and patriotism, full of energy, strong solidarity, and a meaningful message of peace and down-to-earth compassion.
Prof. Henry stated that it was no exaggeration to describe Prabowo as ‘Little Soekarno’ because of his courageous opposition to the oppression of national sovereignty, imperialism and colonialism, the abrogation of human rights, the destruction of a nation’s civilization, and even genocide, all underpinned by the hegemony of superpower influence.
At that time, Bung Karno, as the Indonesian first president was called, strongly opposed imperialist practices in the Third World by initiating the Non-Aligned Movement, which is remembered to this day and provides a spirit of struggle and an important message that the Third World cannot be subjected to the hegemony of one nation or state over another’s ethnicity, religion, race, or social class, without inclusivism.
Prof. Henry assessed that the speech by the son of the renowned economist, Prof. Soemitro Djojohadikoesoemo, further emphasized the importance of world peace in the global order amidst geopolitical and economic challenges, not solely for Indonesia’s interests.
In his speech, Prabowo was described as very firm and straightforward in his stance on Palestine and Zionist Israel, emphasizing the importance of internationalism.
“The two-state solution reaffirmed by President Prabowo at the UN General Assembly must be immediately translated into concrete steps by the international community,” stressed the renowned politician and advocate.
“Indonesia advocates a two-state solution for Palestinian independence, which is supported by various countries that recognize Palestine. However, this declaration will only be a diplomatic symbol without impacting the Palestinian people, who continue to suffer from colonialism, oppression, and genocide, if there are no concrete steps from the UN and the international community,” added Professor Henry.
Prabowo also elegantly emphasized that the nations where humanity resides must continue to unite and build equality for world peace.
Prof. Henry stated that the Head of State was able to return Indonesia to the global stage.
“President Prabowo was the star of the show on the podium in the main UN meeting room, clearly and unequivocally stating that Indonesia has returned to the multilateral diplomatic stage. It is a source of pride for all Indonesians that the president is appearing on the honorable stage of the UN, after approximately 10 years of absence of Indonesia’s highest leader from the UN General Assembly,” Prof. Henry told suarakarya.id in Jakarta, Friday (September 26, 2025).
The professor and professor at Unissula Semarang emphasized that the important message from the president’s speech to the world was that Indonesia is firmly back in multilateral diplomacy.
With passionate rhetoric, he said, Prabowo championed peace, justice, and solidarity, positioning Indonesia as a beacon of hope for the Global South. The main focus of the speech was the Palestinian issue.
“Justice is the foundation of peace. Without recognition of the state of Palestine, peace in the Middle East is just an illusion,” said Professor Henry, echoing the President’s speech, which was greeted with applause from world leaders at the UN General Assembly.
The Deputy Chairman of the Bapera Central Executive Board and also the Chair of the Bapera Legal Aid Institute (LBH) said that Prabowo also offered Indonesia’s recognition of Israel if Palestine was fully recognized, as well as food aid from national self-sufficiency for the people of Gaza and a readiness to send UN peacekeeping troops to Gaza or Ukraine.
Prabowo also criticized global injustice using the doctrine of Thucydides.
“The strong do what they can, the weak bear what they must,” Prabowo said in his speech.
This was conveyed in reference to Indonesia’s history of colonialism. Therefore, President Prabowo rejects the law of the jungle in global governance.
“The UN must be a guardian of justice, not a tool of power,” he said.
Prabowo’s call for inclusive global reform was met with a standing ovation from various delegations.

Prabowo also received praise from Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The public response was overwhelming. Global media outlets like Al Jazeera called the speech “fiery” and visionary. The domestic response was also overwhelmingly positive.
Politicians from across political parties, from Puan Maharani to Fadli Zon, praised it as a source of national pride.

Humanitarian Manifesto
Professor Henry assessed that Prabowo was not just giving a speech, but delivering a humanitarian manifesto.
“His Thucydides’ Doctrine reflects a rejection of realpolitik that sacrifices the weak, in line with John Rawls’ principle of distributive justice. The call for Palestine is a moral call for the world to see justice from behind a veil of ignorance and without siding with hegemony,” explained Professor Henry.
Specifically, the Doctor of Law from UNS Surakarta and Borobudur University Jakarta praised Prabowo’s multi-religious greeting as a reflection of Immanuel Kant’s cosmopolitanism.
“It’s not just a symbol, but a vision of Indonesia that positions itself to bridge global divisions so they don’t worsen,” he explained.
Professor Henry added that the success of this speech depends on concrete action.
Referring to Hans Jonas’s ethics of responsibility, Professor Henry said that the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia demonstrated Indonesia’s moral responsibility to future generations.
“But this vision must be realized with concrete assistance to Palestine and just domestic reforms,” stressed the Golkar politician from Central Java.
He believes this speech reflects Indonesia’s identity, which is grounded in universal humanity while remaining rooted in the nation’s history and culture.
“President Prabowo has restored Indonesia’s reputation on the world stage. Now, the world awaits Indonesia’s concrete steps to realize the vision of peace and justice he proclaimed,” concluded the Deputy Chair of the Advisory Board of the Indonesian Advocates Congress (KAI).
