Indonesia, Vietnam implement Action Plan 2023

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Since the establishment of strategic partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia in June 2013, both countries have successfully implemented an Action Plan for the years 2014 to 2018 and now are implementing Action Plan for the years 2019 to 2023 in a number of areas.

“Such various areas as political and diplomatic dialogue, economic cooperation, security and defense cooperation, as well as promotion of tourism, culture exchanges and people to people contacts,” Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to Indonesia Pham Vinh Quang remarked on the 74th commemoration of Viet Nam’s National Day here on Thursday night (Sep 5).

The ambassador said that in 2019, economic cooperation between the two countries continues to develop rapidly.

He noted that in the first six months of 2019, the total bilateral trade turnover between the two countries reached US$4.3 billion, up 9.3 percent over the same period last year.

Along with the existing Hanoi-Jakarta route (transit in Ho Chi Minh City) Viet Nam Airlines will launch Ho Chi Minh City-Bali route in early October, 2019.

At the same time, another Vietnamese airline, Vietjet Air’s launched in May, 2019 Ho Chi Minh City-Bali route.

“These new routes will help increase the number of passengers visiting each other and contribute to the promotion of economic activities and exchanges between people of the two countries,” Ambassador Pham added.

He continued, “The Vietnam- Indonesia relationship has gone a long way beyond the bilateral scope and is taking on a strategic, regional and global significance, as the two countries share greater common interests and are expected to fulfill more responsibilities in tackling international challenges.”

According to the ambassador, in 2020, Vietnam and Indonesia, once again, will have a chance to work and collaborate together at the UN Security Council, the main organ of the United Nations responsible for the maintenance of international peace and security.

“Allow me to express my sincere gratitude to all of you not only for attending today’s Reception, but for your contribution to the fine relations between Vietnam and Indonesia,” the Ambassador said.

He added that the traditional relationship established by President Ho Chi Minh and President Soekarno and constantly consolidated by the hard work of generations of leaders and fostered by the sustained commitment to friendship of the people of Vietnam and the people of Indonesia.

Ambassador Pham said that at the end of this year the Embassy of Viet Nam in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia will organize activities to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the visit of President Ho Chi Minh’s to Indonesia in 1959 and President Soekarno visit to Viet Nam on the same year.

“The highlight is the Workshop and Photo Exhibition in Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Bali,” he pointed out.

The achievements in bilateral cooperation over the past years, are favorable conditions for the two countries to work together to nurture this fine, effective and sustainable relationship towards milestones in both countries in 2020: 75th Anniversary of National Day (1945-2020) and 65th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations (1955-2020).
