Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia urges member countries of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) to unite in supporting Palestine following the statement of United States President Donald Trump on January 28, 2020 about the Deal of Century.
“Indonesia urges all OIC members to remain united and committed to building full solidarity for Palestine,” RI’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mahendra Siregar said at the Extraordinary Ministerial Conference of the OIC Executive Committee in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Monday.
A press release from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by Indonesia Window here on Monday mentioned that the Deal of Century contained a proposal for Middle East peace, including requiring a future Palestinian state to be “demilitarized”.
The proposal also mentions the inauguration of Israeli sovereignty over illegal settlements which were built in occupied territories.
During the conference the Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister proposed three suggestions on how the OIC could achieve a common stance.
First, the OIC should call on Muslims throughout the world to consistently unite in solving conflicts in Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
Second, the OIC should reaffirm the principles of two-state solution that respects international law and parameters as it is the only solution in solving conflicts in Palestine.
Third, the OIC should reaffirm the importance of dialogue among the involving parties in achieving lasting peace and stability for Palestine and in the region.
Furthermore, Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Mahendra Siregar urged the OIC countries to remain consistently united in responding to the announcement of the United States Government on the status of the city of Jerusalem which was not based on international laws.
