Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Rector of Al-Azhar University of Indonesia (UAI) Prof. Dr. Asep Saefudin has stated that Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have the same concern about the importance of tolerance.

The statement was conveyed before the screening of a film on the United Arab Emirates’ history at the UAI campus here on Tuesday, according to a press release from the UAE Embassy received by Indonesia Window.

The screening of the historical film was also attended by United Arab Emirates Ambassador Mohammed Abdulla Al Ghfeli along with a number of UAE diplomats, UAI’s lecturers, academics and at least 300 students.

The UAE Ambassador in his remarks stated that the screening of the film was expected to show the national history that became the foundation for modernization, development and progress achieved by the Middle East country.

The UAE has witnessed the transformation from the Bedouin community into a developed society, yet the people still fully embrace its cultural heritage and traditions, as well as its Arabic and Islamic identity.
