Hajj1442 – 5,000 workers sterilize Makkah’s Grand Mosque ten times daily

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has recruited up to 5,000 workers to sterilize the entire Grand Mosque, its courtyards and facilities ten times a day using more than 60,000 liters of disinfectant materials.

General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Sheikh Abdurrahman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais made the statement at the launch of operational plan for hajj, Wednesday (June 30), Saudi Gazette reported.

Sheikh Al-Sudais explained that the presidency used the latest technologies in the field of sterilization and disinfection to ensure that the environment of the Grand Mosque is free of any viruses or epidemics.

Smart robots and a number of modern mechanisms have been also included in the sterilization works and are operated by a group of qualified national competencies.

Continuous sterilization will be carried out in all facilities used by pilgrims before and after performing the hajj rituals.

As the COVID-19 pandemic still hitting the world, the Saudi government has decided to limit the number of pilgrims for hajj 1442 hijri/2021 to 60,000 people, consisting of national citizens and foreigners living in the kingdom.
