Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has distributed more than one thousand tons of protective equipment for at least one million medical workers worldwide.
A press statement from the UAE Embassy in Jakarta received here on Tuesday said that the UAE also sent food aid to a number of countries in the world in facing the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic as a form of the country’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation.
“Since its establishment the UAE has continued to seek cooperation and friendship, as well as fostering solidarity with other countries. The UAE believes that all countries should put aside their interests and differences in an effort to realize the unity and humanity,” UAE’s Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy said.
She added, the aid for one million medical workers worldwide is a form of UAE’s commitment to expanding cooperation regardless of religious, racial, or ideological differences.
According to the minister, during the pandemic engulfing the world, UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan along with his higher-ranking officials multiplied their efforts to help all those in need.
“The UAE reiterates the vision of the UAE founder, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who believes in the collective responsibility to help others,” Reem remarked.
Since the pandemic has been taking place, the UAE has been a leader in global humanitarian efforts to stem the spread of the deadly virus.
As the most active COVID-19 donor in the world, UAE’s assistance has reached 70 countries, including China, Italy, Britain, Iran, Pakistan, Brazil, Russia, Yemen, and Afghanistan.
