Indonesia launches first bullion bank service

Bullion Bank service is part of the Indonesian government’s strategic policy in strengthening national economic resilience.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the Bullion Bank service is part of the Indonesian government’s strategic policy in strengthening national economic resilience, along with the policy of storing Foreign Exchange from Natural Resource Exports (locally known as the abbreviation of DHE SDA).
The president made the remarks when launching the Bullion Bank Service of Pegadaian and Bank Syariah Indonesia (Pawnshop and Indonesian Sharia Bank) at The Gade Tower, Jakarta, on Wednesday (Feb. 26), according to the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat in a written statement quoted by Indonesia Window.
“The government that I now lead has implemented several strategic policies as an effort towards economic independence, towards a safe, just, prosperous, strong Indonesia, standing on our own two feet,” he said.
The head of state said that the DHE SDA storage policy requires entities that receive state assets and credit from government banks to place their business results in national banks in Indonesia.
President Prabowo is optimistic that this policy can increase the country’s foreign exchange by up to 100 billion US dollars per year. 1 US dollar = 16,370 rupiahs.
“With this step which will come into effect on March 1, our export foreign exchange is estimated to increase by 80 billion US dollars in 2025. Because we started on March 1, it is estimated that in one year our foreign exchange will reach at least 100 billion US dollars,” he noted.
In addition to the DHE SDA policy, President Prabowo also explained the launch of Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara Indonesia/sovereign wealth fund) on February 24, 2025.
With total assets of more than 900 billion US dollars, the president said that the fund would be used to accelerate the down-streaming of the national industry, which has the potential to increase the added value of the economy hundreds fold.
“Total assets of more than 900 billion US dollars will allow us to accelerate the development of our industry, our downstream industry, so that the added value of all our natural resources, all our production can be accelerated significantly, the added value can be tens of times, tens of times, even hundreds of times,” the president said.
Furthermore, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of smarter, more transparent, and corruption-free resource management, believing that with strong determination and intention, Indonesia’s wealth can be well maintained.
“Of course, new things or innovative things, or breakthroughs certainly invite questions. But with good intentions, with strong determination, by learning from all experiences, with the desire to uphold a clean government, free from corruption, we are sure and believe that our wealth will be maintained, because our wealth belongs to our children and grandchildren,” he said.
